Highbury Quadrant, Islington

About:

The development includes the refurbishment of the existing end-of-terrace property, converting it from four one-bedroom flats to a three-bedroom family-sized maisonette and two one-bedroom flats, and building a new three storey three-bedroom house onto the side of the existing building. The refurbishment of the existing property is designed to an ultra-low energy design standard, and the new residential building is of high architectural quality and also designed to meet an ultra-low energy design standard.

The entire scheme is proposed by the Council to be a possible prototype for the London Borough of Islington, exploring options for highly sustainable refurbishments and new builds. The overall aim of the project is therefore to explore how ultra-low energy retrofits and new build projects can be rolled out across the borough in the future.
