Between Towns Road, Oxford

About:

This project forms part of the first phase of developments carried out by Oxford City Council’s newly formed housing company. The constrained, former petrol station site will be redeveloped to provide 35 new apartments, three houses and a small new public space.

An elegant, curved apartment building will shield the shared courtyard from the busy main road. Angled mews houses will be located to the rear as a transition to the residential streets to the north, whilst avoiding overlooking of nearby homes. 50% of the new homes will be affordable. To maximise long-term sustainability, mechanical ventilation with heat recovery, roof-mounted photovoltaic panels, high levels of cycle parking, electric car charging points, access to a new car club space and electric bike charging points will all be incorporated.
